Are you working on something with a looming deadline?
It’s essential to “push the needle” every day, even if it feels minuscule. On those days when motivation is low, allow yourself the freedom to work on something for just 2 minutes. Those 2 minutes can create a sense of progress, making it easier to face the day. Let’s be honest: some days, we just don’t have it in us. But even those brief moments of effort can compound into something significant over time.
However, the main point of this post is to help you overcome the biggest hurdle of all: just getting started. Many of us struggle to accomplish our goals simply because we can’t find the motivation to begin. But if you commit to spending just 2 minutes on a task, you may find that those minutes snowball into 10, then 30, and eventually 2 hours. Before you know it, you’ve made substantial progress, boosting your self-esteem and really pushing that needle forward—all because you thought, “Fine, I’ll give it 2 minutes, even if I don’t feel like it!”
So, the next time you’re feeling stuck, set a timer for 2 minutes and just play around with your task. Sometimes, that’s all it takes to get the ball rolling.
Give it a try!
